L.O.V.E. Productions was conceived in the spring of 96'. It has existed on a small scale of fund-raisers before for rainbow events in Boulder. The 1st full on council of L.O.V.E. was formed in early January in a potluck of 30+ people. Boulder's L.O.V.E. was brought together for the sole purpose of organizing a 4:20 festival in April, called Sow the Seeds Festival. The event went off after weeks of organizing in a collective fashion by many groups and Mystical Ascension. Community effort was tested in this event to accomplish a goal to bring awareness on many issues in legalization and rainbow issues. This next event came together as Return to Camelot was produced by Avery Runner from Space Dub Productions that united many factions of the Colorado underground rave scene in putting on a 3 day event in Southern Colorado in August 1998 at Bishops Castle. L.O.V.E. Productions on the road came about with the Zion Train Roots Unity Tour that began in May 98' to Colorado regional rainbow gathering that produced the Gypsy Funk Circus theater at the Colorado Camp. Then united efforts with Granola Funk Theater at Arizona National rainbow gathering. From there we participated in working with The Arizona Earth Fair produced by 5th World Productions. Then from there we started the caravan to High Times WHEE 2 Festival in Eugene Oregon, where once we arrived we were welcomed and given a prime spot to set up the MERKABOOM tent. We also had a kitchen and our work crew numbered to around 50+ volunteers under our rainbow volunteer management. This was the reset of the actions That Zion Train 97' Tours had set in place. The 98' Tour was now with a L.O.V.E. focus yet we lacked the proper resources and tools to become really efficient and focused. We helped in providing late night live tribal techno music and filmed Rainbow Gypsies main stage act. Unity came in many efforts during the event. After that event we worked our way to Reggae on the River and Reggae at the Lake. In these two festivals
we accomplished much work and yet we found ourselves scattered again
due to proper tools to handle the over work that our volunteers
put themselves through. reggae on the Lake we had a crew that expanded
to kitchen bus to security to production and we even had a co-op
booth crew. We were overworked and the volunteers left at the end
of the event. The lessons came that the mission had changed from
a Peace Pilgrimage in 97' to a work mission in 98' that had no central
support unit. So from there the L.O.V.E. Council of the Zion train
Tour decided that we no longer wanted to work as volunteer worker
crews. That the new focus was to be Co-producers of events and actions.
We thank the reggae festival community for allowing us in 97-98
to spread the One Love message. We feel that the message is better
understood as a performance and educational branch for future events.
So this new project began with the end of the Zion Train tours that became well known in the reggae festival community to the co-creation of the Gypsy Funk Circus in September 1998. The 1st visit was The Mystical Ascension crew and One Love Central traveling to Santa Cruz where efforts were met in uniting with 13 Moon Tribe gatherings in August 99" and Rain dance events. Then in Early September we started a new journey to Northern California at the Hog Farm Picnic where we worked with the CASBAH TEAHOUSE and coordinated efforts for the Trinity Tribal Stomp in Hayfork California. In Hayfork we not only worked with the Casbah in the kitchen but we set up sound and backed up performances with Baganvan Dass, Jah Levi, Freedom Tribe, Dejabom, Mystical Ascension and many more. After this event One Love Central split off to the south to return to Santa Cruz for planning and Mystical Ascension went to Headwaters base camp for a visit. This is when David "Gypsy"
Chain from Earth 1st Headwaters Campaign was killed in a loggers
cat and mouse game of falling trees to scare the activist away.
Many members of the Zion Train and One Love Family were in the area.
The news spread out all over the country over our 800# One Love
line at the time. It was universally accepted from there on that
the Gypsy Funk Circus be in memory of David "Gypsy" Chain
that many had known personally in the family. From there The Merkaboom Collective went their way to other events and recording in Washington D.C. and the One Love Central of L.O.V.E. went onto PHISH tour in Massachusetts and New York and GFE tour Massachusetts and Vermont. This was a basic network journey and make money anyways possible mission. One Love Central came into WOODSTOCK 1999 as Special Projects Department Volunteers and helped in finishing touches in the art/wall museum. Our service was greatly appreciated and message shared with the Woodstock production core. The very next week L.O.V.E. united again at the WHEE 3 Freedom Fighters festival in Columbus, OHIO. There in our 3rd year of participating, The Gypsy Funk Circus united with Art and Revolution and Aaron Funk became the live MC for the theater. Merkaboom Collective set up the Merkaboom tent as a rest area and performed as a 2nd stage act after hours from the main stage. The stage was shared with non-other then Fantuzzi himself when he paid a warm visit to the Gypsy Funk Family. Gypsy Funk Circus finally was allowed to become its fullest and the stage was set for the future. Gypsy Funk Circus was inspired
to act again in summer 2000 after the Annual Rainbow Gathering in
Montana. The GFc was invited to produce a second entertainment area
at the Roots revolution Festival that accredited the collective
with fire dancers, Kumbaka, Arjun, Chai station, and a Big tent
known as the Merkaboom. the event went off with lots of positive
props and were asked to come back. After this event, many nomadic
family were on separate trails and the circus did not stick.. The
focus became one of small scale outreach with an information table
and some small performances at various events, Health & Harmony,
Sierra World Music Festival, Roots Revolution Festival, Hornets
Hideaway w/ String Cheese Incident, Seattle Hemp Festival, Reggae
on the River, Hog Farm, Trinity Tribal Stomp, Reggae at Mount Shasta,
Ashland Community Fair, Shasta Barter Fair, Spearheads 911 Free
Festival, Reggae in the Park and Peter Tosh Birthday Celebration.
Gypsy Funk Circus was retired and new focus has since been laid
out for future projects on the road. The
concept of L.O.V.E. is shared by many and his living example to
Peoples Productions of the Mateel Center, and many other famous
cooperative production collectives. The vision of this collective
is for it to be versatile in all areas of production and promotions.
On the local levels, it will encompass productions from small fund-raisers
to big festival gatherings. On the National side it could be the
driving force of a tour collective and/or working together with
other local/regional collectives/producers in co-producing an event.
The range of concepts and communities stretch to underground events,
tours, festivals, stage shows, spiritual meals, pow wows, camp outs
and so on.
L.O.V.E.
Council
Earth dance International
& a collective of organizations pulled off a 3 day event on
the Yakima Reservation in Northern California. From this event,
inspired in music, art and prayer many an entertainer and net worker
came together to re-initiate the The 1st gathering occurred
at the Cell Space in San Francisco and the following attended. Individuals
representing; One Heart Global Broadcasting
Network, Global Empowerment Network,
One Love Vibrations Foundation, Global
Peace Foundation, Planetary Art Network
USA, World Alliance for World Peace,
Mystical Family Circus, Bizaaare.org,
Uniting Souls, Cell
Space Collective, and many as just themselves; came together
to share that it was indeed time to work together and accelerate
the vision of the L.O.V.E. council/circle
potential in the present world situation. It was agreed to have
L.O.V.E. councils/circles at least once a month. Flexibility is
accomplished through communications. Vision of council/circle is
as same as before: The concept has been created
in form of a spiritual traditional council that has approved to
create communications between groups and actions. This letter of
intent is to inform and invite all those in all fields to work together
in co-creating many events and actions for the purpose of spreading
World Peace, World Unity and One Love.. One Love
of all humans on the Planet Earth. Each council
related to event would make decision on proceeds and have the advisory
help of a network of specialist. A toll free or local hotline will
be incorporated that will have updates of events, and world web
homepage sight will be set up to unite all activities and for communications.
A call for all those in any field of training to share and volunteer
for events in the future in planning office / warehouse / house
is needed for L.O.V.E. central for computers and net workers. A
call for fund-raisers, auctions, gallery events and baking/yard
sales. Donations and contributions of any sort can be accepted by
not for profit organizations associated. LOVE is a pure
intent of unity and peace. We suggest that an outdoor location away
and serene from modern society be used once in a while ( weather
permitting) for a LOVE gathering and council / circle to occur.
This will help everyone come back to the roots of the intent of
the actions, love of Life, love of each other in respect, and of
our unilateral home the Planet Earth.. Lets unite to take care of
her and the future of our children. Harold
