Some tips from another rideshare page:

Need-a-Ride or Have-a-Ride
- be very clear if you are looking to ride with someone with a vehicle or do you have a vehicle and are looking for riders. Travel dates- make sure everyone knows departure date and time, how many people will be in the vehicle, and whether this is a ONE WAY or ROUND TRIP. Changes in dates for leaving the gatherings are a pain, so council about any changes.
Driver or Rider- can you share the driving? As a courtesy to the vehicle owner (not to mention the law) to offer to drive, you must have a valid driver's license with you. Remember large vehicles may require special endorsements to operate in many states. Anyone can be stopped, however safely you drive (as we've all learned).

Green Energy- (gas money) say whether you have money to contribute to the 'hat' of the brother or sister with the vehicle. If you're offering a ride, be up front about whether you need green energy, would appreciate it, or just want company as you head home.

Personal Safety- Before you accept a ride with anyone, or agree to provide a ride to anyone, check with someone else in the family that they know. If you can't, at least meet with them first to know who you'll be sharing your air with for several days?

Keep it Legal- Travel Clean
- Be honest with your riders/drivers and don't surprise them by carrying anything that could get them busted, however sacred you consider it. DRIVE SENSIBLY, observe speed limits, remember to help check headlights, tail lights, clear visibility through windows and mirrors, seatbelts, etc. Small time traffic infractions can lead to big time hassles .
